Merry Meet Readers! How's everyone doing?
Have you ever had that candle you absolutely love
and you wish you could wear it on you all day? For me, it’s Bath and Body Works, Pink Sangria
Candle…. Hmmmm yum!
“Hello Pink Cocktail! Enjoy this
pretty and refreshing mix of zesty mandarin, crisp apple, watery pear, and
sugared berries.”
|
Now this candle is my little piece of paradise but like
most BBW candle scents, it doesn’t come with a body care line! Such a shame. A
recent trip to made
me think!
Sooo
in this state of thinking I began to harass Google and pintrest! In
my research I discovered…
Wala: Coconut Oil used as Lip Balm! And this the
candle wax
lip balm experiments started!
After
many trial and errors, I discovered the right combination that worked for my
purposes. But then I discovered that the lip balm got kind of nasty. I was
missing Vitamin E!! Vitamin E is a natural preservative that’s not harmful to
skin.
Now
I don’t know how many of you ladies out there are a fan of tinted lip balms,
but I know I am! I’m obsessed with oRevlon Lip Butters and Maybelline Color Whispers.
But if you couldn’t tell from the candle above, this post is all about scent.
So in my experiments, the one thing I wasn’t loving was the taste! Blegh just
plain awful! So I asked my Sarahbear how I might fix this little issue of mine and she suggested....
KOOL AID!!!!
Problem solved! Mixing
Kool-Aid into the mixtures not only fixed the waxy taste but also tinted the
balm. Awesome thing about using Kool-Aid was you could alternate how tinted you
want the balm to be. I lean towards more of a sheer color myself so I can layer
the balm over bright lipliner. You can also use food coloring for a more
prominent color and add lemon extract to take care of the taste, or add more
oil but then alter your cooling time. As for containers to put your new lip
balm into, here’s where you can get creative. I, myself, used an empty, clean
candle holder (pink sangria one to be exact!) because of how big of the recipe
and the secure lid. If you would like to use something different, I suggest you
go hunting in your local $1 Store!
These were found at Dollar Tree! They're stack-able!!! |
Ingredients:
·
½
teaspoon of melted candle wax
·
2
teaspoon of Coconut Oil or Olive Oil\
·
½
of Shea Butter or Cocoa Butter (you can also use Vasoline but I don’t recommend
it)
·
One
packet of Pink Lemonade Kool-Aid mix
Directions:
1. Measure out
Oil and shea into a small bowl (a soup bowl or even coffee cup works) and set
aside.
2. Shave out
candle with a spoon into a small bowl, microwave for 30 seconds or until
completely melted.
3. Mix the oil,
wax, and shea together, you may need to reset but DO NOT OVERHEAT!
4. Mix in
packet until desired color/taste.
5. Pour into
storing container. Let sit for 2-4 hours. For speeded setting you may
refrigerate but DO NOT FREEZE!!!!
6. For added color,
feel free to add liquid food coloring in red or other desired color.
I hope
everyone enjoys this recipe! If you do not want to colored lip balm, using ½ teaspoon
of honey takes away the waxy taste or ½ teaspoon of peppermint extract (though
it does tingle on your lips).
If you make
your own lip balm, please post with a comment or video on your results! Merry
Meet and Merry Part Again!
